The conference gathered together 70 mathematicians from 11 countries. The meeting was
a great opportunity to give the honorary membership of the Polish Mathematical Society to Professor Paul Erdös. There appeared a Special Issue 164 (1997) of Discrete Mathematics containing selected papers presented at the conference.
